So.. since we are rapidly approaching the "one year" anniversary of 9/11 I figured it'd be a good time to start a reflections thread (that sounds gay). Since this anniversary almost means this incarnation of the Bored has been around for almost a year.

So.. one year and counting, still BOMBING YOUR ASS WITH A DAILY BARRAGE OF BOREDOM!. Ha. So silly. I really was inspired with this design though, what with my war-minded thinking and all. Could you tell? But the design has remained, partly because I'm really lazy now and also I haven't been inspired since then. Go figure. Ideas are always appreciated though.

At my work we recently got the "9/11 Documentary" on VHS and DVD, its the one that was shown on CBS I believe in mid-september. And watching it today, it brought back lots of feelings I havent really felt since 9/11 and the following days. I suppose in all the media blitz and coverage since then, I got kind of numb to it all. It was always the same shit, different day. Fear masked in Anger and rage. But watching the documentary, as it went moment by moment, step by step, it kind of brings the whole event back into reality. It really did happen, real people died, there really was an evil plot to accomplish all this. It has all become so surreal since 9/11 its nice (ha, nice?) to see this event in its simplist terms. The horror and courage, our policies and the consequences. Sigh.

And what of the world since 9/11? More or less, my world is no different. I havent even flown anywhere, so I haven't seen the "enhanced" security, and the "war on terror" has died down in intensity. But I suppose the feeling remains, a small shred of solidarity, and some national pride I suppose (Moreso than usual hehe). I wish I could say the world is a better place since 9/11, but I dont think anything has changed at all. Will it even change? Who knows. I'm just thankful I didn't contract anthrax or get bombed.

So here it is, a nice tidy post, lets discuss. Where were we? Where are we? And where have we come since 9/11.

Hmmmm... You should think about the anthrax coming from some wackoweirdo US dude. Which is a proof something wasn't right even within the USA.
Fortunately I wasn't an Iraqi nor an american and could try to figure out what was happening without any excessive passion. But you know, Bush wanted a reinforced army, a reinforced CIA, NSA and stuff. Well, I really think he should thank the terrorists cuz now the USA have a reason to deploy so many military forces. And while the country's at war nobody cares about the lil insignificant issues happening in their everyday's lives. Alexander the Great, Caesar, Napoleon, Roosevelt, Churchill, De Gaulle (even Staline if he hadn't been so excessive afterwards) are still considered great men. They were all men of war.
So yeah, let's clean our weapons.

well, i remember the day and event well still. i was in manhattan that day. on that monday, i drove down with the band whos website i do for a major label showcase. everything went great that night, and they were about to get signed to Atlantic. after a night of drinking, we woke up to see the disaster that started. we were stranded 55 blocks from the WTC with no extra cash and the clothes on our backs. we wound up getting help from the a&r/label for our troubles, but it was still hell being in NYC during that time. and, the band never got signed due to the economic turndown and such.

since then, things have been normal. i remember the ride back taking like an extra hour just to get out of the city. i live in upstate ny, and haven't noticed anything to weird going on. i never have the need to fly, but my life has been rather normal and hopefully will continue to be.

I've just watched The Naudet bros report. It was amazing and really interesting. You prolly have already watched it there. It's those 2 frenchies who were making a report about life as a fire fighter in downtown NYC when the events happened.
The scene when the guys are trapped in Tower #1 when Tower #2 collapsed leaves you speechless. This documentary is really edifying...
