OK...I've been around long enough to see this band from it's inception (hell, we're all the same age)...and I've always liked them, even when the fucking eletists were crying sell-out, even when it seemed like I'd "lost them" to the mainstream.
Their latest release has got to be the best fucking thing they've ever done...ever. It's literally blowing me away with how original, yet familiar, it is. When I heard them touting it as a "punk rock opera" I was a bit skeptical, but I really am in awe of how good it is. I highly recommend giving it a spin.

I actually like it quite a bit, but I still think the single is horrible.

the single is not very original actually, although it's quite commited. But I liked the video. As for the whole album, it's great, second best after dookie. It's funny how they put 2 or three kinda slow, soft songs (Wake me up once september ends - tis about time!!...)
On a related note, I found that the riff in "extraordinary girl" is similar to Tenacious D's "wonderboy". Ok, it's only 3 notes and a drum rythm but when you consider the titles are alike...

I have yet to hear the new Green Day album. My brother bought it, so I'll probably listen to it whenever I go home. I'm quite excited since it's been some reasonably good reviews.
And speaking of JEW... I saw them last night at my school. I got pushed right up against the railing because I forgot school sponsored shows are pretty broXcore. But I was really happy because they played stuff off Static Prevails and Clarity.

I've listened to it (there ARE ways to get an album before it's out...) and liked it but not more than that. I found it very Jimmy Eat World-like. Nothing transfiguring, nothing making me say to myself "great". Still, consider I'm not such a fan of JEW, anyway.
