the mistake... ok...one thursday, at like 230 am, someone on the 14th floor (the one above me) set off a fire extinguisher, and you know, it looks like smoke when one is set off in a small room? so an RA sees this, and pulls the fire alarm.. so i am woken up by this, and at first, i think its my alarm, so i walk over and turn it off... ok.. so i evacuate the builing (fun fun from 13th floor) anyways... i come back in and go to sleep, forgetting about my alarm clock... i wake up at 3pm on thursday, missing my psych class first off, and secondly, my spanish class which is really good cause i had a midterm the next day. i also missed when i was planning on going to the testing center to take a math exam... so i figure to myself, ill go to english class at 1040, then, after that, study for math, take that around oneish and then at 240 go to spansih class to take the exam... ok... the problem with that (and it didnt hit me until 240) was that my spanish class was at ONE fourty... i dont know why i thought that it was at two fourty, but i did, and i missed my spanish exam, and failed my math exam. it was great... i love my life, i really really do. its so awesome.

oh bollocks. i havent been SKIPPING class. there have been reasons. first off, i can think of two times where we had fire alarms go off in my building, and my roomate (admitting it to me the next day when i awoke at 3pm) turning my alarm off, mistakingly taking that for the fire alarm he heard. secondly, i AM going to talk to my instructor about this. i remember nothing about this four day policy (the school's is something like six), and lastly, its not about studying. if not for a DUMB mistake involving time at my spanish class, i would have an A or B... in psych, a B. so yeah, uh-huh...

I'm not your teacher. but, I will tell you this... the longer you take to go speak with him/her, the less seriously he/she is going to take you when you voice your desire to be in that class. And I wouldn't advice taking this whiny, angry tone with her. quote: its not about studying. if not for a DUMB mistake involving time at my spanish class, i would have an A or B... in psych, a B. so yeah, uh-huh...
after missing the exam, the first thing you should've done was go see the professor during office hours and voice your worries about that class. Sitting around in your dorm room bitching about it on the internet is not going to get your grade higher, nor is it going to make your professors believe that you are interested in doing so. and then after having talked to your professor, you should've made a concious effort to study really hard for the next exam, to back up your words and show that you really ARE serious about the class. of course, the longer the amount of time that elapses between the test and you seeing the professor, the less credible that makes you. basically, if you want to do well in a huge university environment, you need to do things to make you seen (and trust me, there are plenty of students that miss exams, so that's not going to get you any attention). not everyone is a brainiac that can write amazing papers or ace every exam, but very few students actually stop by to talk to their teachers and show a real interest in their class. it's a lot easier to flunk a faceless name on a bubble sheet than it is to do the same to someone that you know genuinely cares about their education.

you really ought to know the incident before you speak of it.as for spanish, i DID talk to my teacher as soon as i could. i ran down to her office right after i realised my mistake... left a note under her door cause she was not there (this after waiting half an hour for her to show up) and then i emailed her (she is a hippy type. doesnt even own a tv, much less a computer), as well as called her office number, only to find she has no answering machine. i spoke with her on the monday (it was a friday when this happened) about it, and she said that she couldnt do anything, and would have to talk to her department coordinator. anyways, she told me that if it was up to her, i would be allowed to retake the exam. her coordinator said otherwise. and do you really think im dumb enough to go to my psych teacher with this tone? really now...
