Well you see the problem is that with the way the economy is the Banks are not making money from Interest rates the way they used too. Plus the money that is made from interest rates is volital based on how the economy is. Hard to run a business that way. Sooooo.... The banks have decided to go with fee initiatives. They end up charging different fees for different services. This way they have a more constant flow of income. I know it sucks but from a business prospective if makes sense. The $1.50 fee is ususally just passed on by your bank from the banks ATM that you used. Foreign ATM's (ones that are not your banks) ususally charge non-customers for using their ATM's. It is not that they need more money but they are a business just like anything else. Thats my 2 cents
